My Heritage Motorcycle Tours

With the Reuthers My Heritage Guided motorcycle tour we want to attract particularly those motorcyclists, whose ancestors once left the Old World in order to build a better New World. Million emigrants came from the anglo-saxon countries England, Scotland and Ireland. Today their descendants have the opportunity to learn more about the countries of their forefathers in the saddle of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle. Apart from the 25 days on the My Heritage Motorcycle Tour one can even participate on stages in Scotland (start and end of Edinburgh) or Ireland (start and end of Belfast). For anyone wanting to experience more of London, we recommend arriving one day earlier and taking part in our Best of London Sightseeing Tour. Europeans can join this fantastic Guided motorcycle tour on their own motorcycles (Reuthers BYOM).

The Route for the My Heritage Motorcycle Tours

The Route:

arrow down Day 1: London

London

Welcome to London the capital of the United Kingdom. After individual arrivals and the transfer from the airport to the hotel we will get ready for our Motorcycle Tour with a Welcome Drink and Dinner. For all those who are interested in London's highlights, we recommend arriving a day earlier and taking part in our Sightseeing Tour Best of London.

arrow down Day 2: London > Bridgwater

Stonehenge

Today we will pick up our Harley-Davidson motorcycles from the rental station and then head to one of the most famous monuments of England, Stonehenge. Built over 4.500 years ago, Stonehenge was named a World Heritage Site in 1986. Another highlight of the day is Glastonbury Tor, a hill with the ruins of the tower of the medieval church of St. Michael's. The former fortress from the 5th century is associated with the legendary King Arthur.

arrow down Day 3: Bridgwater > St Austell

Eden Project, Cornwall

With an excursion to the beautiful countryside of Cornwall a major attraction which is visited annually by over million people is on the program. The Eden Project, a botanical garden whose open area and the four blended geodesic domes accommodate around 100,000 plants from aprox. 5,000 types of plants.

arrow down Day 4: St Austell

Lands End, Cornwall, England

Lands End with the Longship Lighthouse is the most western point of England on the main island of Great Britain and one of the top highlights we will visit on this Reuthers dream trip. Along picturesque coastal roads we reach St. Ives which is called "Porthkerris" in the books of Rosamunde Pilcher and often serves as a backdrop for film versions of novels. Incidentally, the British novelist Virginia Woolf spent the summer months in St. Ives as a child.

arrow down Day 5: St Austell > Liverpool

The Beatles Story, Liverpool

Today's destination is Liverpool which has become primarily known for the Beatles and the Mersey Beat. We'll spend the evening at the legendary Cavern Club.

arrow down Day 6: Liverpool > Gretna Green

Gretna Green

In the morning, a visit to the Beatles Museum "The Beatles Story" is on the program, where we will learn more about the life and work of the Fab Four from Liverpool - an Eldorado for Beatles fans. For over 200 years the Eldorado for minor couples in England was Gretna Green, which even today is still one of the most famous and popular wedding venues in the world. Subject to availability, we plan on spending the night here.

arrow down Day 7: Gretna Green > Edinburgh

Edinburgh Castle, Scotland

During our adventure tour we will reach the Scottish capital Edinburgh - also known as Athens of the north - and firstly visit the landmark of the city, Edinburgh Castle.

arrow down Day 8: Edinburgh > Fort William

Scotland

Today Sterling Castle with its 75m high castle rock is on our plan. In this castle Mary Stuart was crowned at the tender age of only 9 months as the Scottish Queen. Another important site is Glencoe, which we will reach at around noon after driving through the "Valley of Tears". Beneath the highest mountain in Great Britain - Ben Nevis (1343 m) - is our overnight stop and the entrance to the Scottish Highlands: Fort William.

arrow down Day 9: Fort William > Ullapool

Ullapool, Scotland

The Road to the Isles and the Glenfinnan Monument are definitely worth a stop before we visit the famous Elean Donan Castle, where the first part of "Highlander" was filmed. Our overnight stay is planned to be in Ullapool, a small fishing village. Here, so they say, the Scottish wilderness begins.

arrow down Day 10: Ullapool > Tongue

Smoo Caves, Scotland

Today we experience the loneliness of highlands at first hand. The popular Reuthers Roadside Lunch provides for the bodily welfare. Another highlight are the Smoo Caves, the largest sea caves in Great Britain. We will spend the night in Tongue, which also has a castle.

arrow down Day 11: Tongue > Golspie

Dunrobin Castle, Scotland

We continue on the "North Coast 500" - the Scottish response to the legendary American Route 66. In the truest sense of the word we cruise on to the most northern point of the British mainland: Dunnet Head with its lighthouse. We'll take our lunchbreak a few miles further in the northernmost village of the British mainland, in John O'Groates, at the end of the road. An additional mandatory stop during this exciting day is Dunrobin Castle with its picture-book garden. The well-preserved castle is also the seat of the Sutherland Clan.

arrow down Day 12: Golspie > Inverness

Loch Ness, Scotland

A highlight of our Scotland trip is undoubtedly the Culloden Moor, where once the tragic battle between the Scottish clans and the English took place. Urquhart Castle, which we will also visit, has a history of more than 1500 years. Then in Fort Augustus, at the southern end of Loch Ness we will take a boatstour and maybe even the famous monster of Loch Ness, "Nessie" will welcome us....

arrow down Day 13: Inverness > Craigellachie

Glenfiddich Distillery, Whisky Trail, Scotland

Starting from Inverness we drive past Brodie Castle and Elgin Cathedral directly to the Whisky Trail in Scotland. With an extensive tour in one the oldest whisky distilleries in Scotland, the Glenfiddich Distillery, we will learn more about the Scottish whisky. There is a good reason that our overnight stay is close to the distillery.

arrow down Day 14: Craigellachie > Edinburgh

Balmoral Castle, Scotland

If possible, we visit Balmoral Castle, summer residence of Queen Elizabeth II. or instead the restored Davidson Cottage, home to William C Davidson. In 1857, at the age of eleven he emigrated to the USA with his family. There, he built a shed for his sons. That shed became the first Harley-Davidson® workshop situated on Chestnut Street, now Juneau Avenue, Milwaukee...

arrow down Day 15: Edinburgh > Belfast

Cairnryan, Scotland

We say goodbye to Scotland and travel by ferry from Cairnryan to the north Irish city of Belfast, which is part of the United Kingdom.

arrow down Day 16: Belfast > Donegal

Dunluce Castle, Ireland

Highlights today include the Carrickfergus Castle, Kinbane Head facing Scotland and the world famous Dunluce Castle. We will spend the night in Donegal where you can enjoy an Irish pub in the evening.

arrow down Day 17: Donegal > Clifden

Kylemore Abbey, Ireland

We will cruise pass the impressive table mountain Ben Bulbin and visit Kylemore Abbey and its elaborately designed gardens. Our overnight stay is in the Connemara National Park in Clifden.

arrow down Day 18: Clifden > Tralee

Cliffs of Moher, Ireland

The stone grave The Dolmen is a must to visit and of course we'll have a closer look at the world famous Cliffs of Moher with the O'Brien Tower.

arrow down Day 19: Tralee > Killarney

Dingle, Ireland

After a photo stop at the Blennerville Windmill, the largest windmill in Ireland, we will pass over the Connor Pass, visit the Gallarus Oratory and pass Slea Head directly on the coast. We will spend our lunch time in the typical Irish town Dingle. In the afternoon relaxing on Inch Beach is part of the plan.

arrow down Day 20: Killarney > Cork

Healy Pass, Ireland

Today on the agenda is a dream ride along the world famous Ring of Kerry, the Ring of Beara and the overwhelming Healy Pass - what a day!

arrow down Day 21: Cork > Dublin

Queenstown, Ireland

Starting from Cork, we will reach early in the morning the Heritage Center in Queenstown, which gives us an insight on the migration of several million Irish to the New World. Queenstown was also the last port of call of the Titanic on its sad maiden voyage. A visit to the more than 800 year old Hook Lighthouse, the oldest still operating lighthouse in the world! and Kilkenny Castle on our way to Dublin will round off this eventful day.

arrow down Day 22: Dublin > Belfast

Hill of Tara, Ireland

Again a highlight. The historic Hill of Tara, where once hundreds of kings reigned, is the perfect finale of our Ireland adventure.

arrow down Day 23: Belfast > Nottingham

Harley-Davidson Tour Group, Ireland

With the ferry we head back to the UK mainland and head towards Nottingham.

arrow down Day 24: Nottingham

Robin Hood's Sherwood Forest, Nottingham

Today childhood dreams come true, because we will visit the legendary Sherwood Forest - inseparably connected to the legendary figure Robin Hood. In local chronicles the Major Oak, the most significant and largest oak in Sherwood Forest, is considered to be Robin Hood's headquarters and it is our destination.

arrow down Day 25: Nottingham > London

Reuthers Farewell Dinner

The last day on the road. Early in the morning we head back to London, where we will drop off our Harley-Davidson motorcycles at the rental station. In the evening we'll have our traditional Farewell Dinner in which we can recap the adventures of our motorcycle tour.
