New Zealand is one of the most spectacular travel destinations in the world - a true paradise for nature, landscape, and travel photography. On this 19-day guided photography tour, you will explore New Zealand's two fascinating main islands in an in-depth, varied, and relaxed way: from the legendary northern tip at Cape Reinga to the dramatic landscapes of the South Island. Travel is comfortably arranged by minibus, allowing ample time for photo stops, walks, changes of perspective, and shooting in the best possible light. Along the way, you will experience Maori culture, natural wonders such as the Geysers of Rotorua, glaciers, rainforests, alpine passes, and the world-famous Milford Sound. The journey is complemented by stays in exciting cities such as Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, and the adventure capital Queenstown. This photography tour is designed for photography enthusiasts who want to experience New Zealand intensively, with a strong focus on landscape, light, and special moments.

arrow down Day 2: Auckland > Paihia

Bay of Islands, New Zealand

After the daily briefing, we begin our journey into the Northland region. Wide-open landscapes, coastal views, and our first in-depth photo stops - including a visit to a honey farm - accompany us along the way. Via Whangarei, we reach Paihia in the stunning Bay of Islands, one of New Zealand's most beautiful coastal areas.

arrow down Day 3: Paihia > Taipa

Treaty of Waitangi Grounds, New Zealand

arrow down Day 4: Taipa > Dargaville

Cape Reinga Light House, New Zealand

Early in the morning, we depart for Cape Reinga, the northernmost point of New Zealand. The lighthouse, the meeting of the Tasman Sea and the Pacific Ocean, and the site’s spiritual significance to the Maori make this one of the most impressive photographic locations of the journey. We then head south along the Twin Coast Discovery Highway, including a ferry crossing and - depending on opening hours - a visit to the Waipoua Kauri Forest, home to the mighty Tane Mahuta, New Zealand's largest tree. Overnight stay in Dargaville.

arrow down Day 5: Dargaville > Auckland

Gannets at Muriwai Beach, New Zealand

We visit Muriwai Beach with its impressive gannet colony - a highlight for wildlife and nature photography. In the afternoon, we return to Auckland, with the remainder of the day at leisure.

arrow down Day 6: Auckland > Whitianga

Coromandel Peninsula, New Zealand

We travel along the Pacific Coast Highway through the scenic Coromandel region to Whitianga. Our accommodation is located directly at the beach, where once Captain Cook raised the British flag - perfect conditions for beach, coastal, and sunset photography.

arrow down Day 7: Whitianga > Rotorua

Hot Water Beach, New Zealand

In the morning, we reach the famous Hot Water Beach, a unique natural phenomenon. We then continue to Rotorua, where steaming earth, Geysers, and vivid colors create extraordinary photographic scenes. In the evening, we experience an authentic Maori cultural program at Te Puia, including a traditional Hangi dinner, dances, songs, and a powerful Haka, with views of the Pohutu Geyser.

arrow down Day 8: Rotorua > Napier

Napier, New Zealand

Via Lake Taupo, with views of Mount Ruapehu, we travel to Napier, renowned for its unique Art Deco architecture. Overnight stay near the Marine Parade waterfront - ideal for architectural and urban photography.

arrow down Day 9: Napier > Wellington

A relaxed drive brings us to Wellington, New Zealand's vibrant capital. Harbor panoramas, urban scenes, and street photography offer a wide range of photographic opportunities.

arrow down Day 10: Wellington > Nelson

Interislander, Wellington, New Zealand

After visiting the Te Papa National Museum, we cross the Cook Strait aboard the Interislander ferry to Picton. We then continue directly to Nelson, one of the sunniest regions in the country.

You learn more about the look for graphic accents and different perspectives as well as the use of different focal lengths. Finally, it is subtleties that lead to an individual photograph. For early risers we have the sunrise in the program - for night owls the sunset. And, of course, we will discuss the photo shoots of the participants in the tour group and award the best photo at the end of a Reuthers Photo Tour <<<
